Best Drape Company in AucklandNo we’re not. Actually we rank website’s in Google. But this post is here to illustrate the shortfalls of the “Google this” approach to advertising.

Speaking of which if you have a website and you want promotion that’s affordable and actually works, check out our site. We rank small, medium and large websites in search engines, so if you’re chilling on page two you may want to get in touch with us.

If you’re still having trouble figuring out what’s going on this is a response to Auckland Drape Company advertising on Newstalk ZB and asking listeners to Google “Best Drape Company in Auckland”. You know the jingle “Auckland Drape Company…. do do doo dooo doooo.”

Only time will tell who Google thinks has the better drapes.

Oh and if this page does end up ranking and you happen to be from said company, you might want to tell your webmaster to at least use the word ‘best’ on your homepage. That ZB advertising’s doesn’t come cheap, and it would be a darned shame to let it go to waste simply because you omitted one word.

Update: It seems Michael Erickson’s found the best drape company in Auckland

    Haha Jules…cheeky I love it.

Pretty confident you will be up there for “best drape company in Auckland” in no time. But in all seriousness, you do make a solid point. I haven’t heard the ad, but if you’re forking out the big bucks for offline marketing, you better make damn sure your website can support it! Better yet – optimise a landing page for the specific campaign/keyword you are telling them to Google first, then launch the advertising. Least that way you can kind of measure its effectiveness.

Right – off to listen to the radio to research potential goods & services I may purchase etc :P

Haha cheers for the keyword stuff, you could have wrapped it in italics or something I already had one with quotes :)

Well if Google would come round to my site once in a while I might have a chance, this page still isn’t indexed. Guess that serves me right for blogging once a month.

The ad actually tells people to Google three phrases, if I could have remembered them all they’d be in here. Pretty shocking though when you consider whats currently ranking.

I stumbled upon your site yesterday for some reason and saw the homepage had been taken down, what’s that about? You’ve got Man Down Man Down ranking for something fairly competitive

Ha – I see you are no.3 for this now :)

Yeah it was down because I broke it and it wasn’t up to much. Have plans for it but I don’t seem to have the free time like I used to. It still actually ranks for SEO I think.

Anyway hope to see you blogging on a more regular basis dude.

Yeah but unfortunately some other late to the party blogger’s beating me now #3 haha, although I maintain my drapes image is the prettier.

I’m going to take his advice (even though it’s a little suspect – in the post he mixes up AdWords with AdSense) and am thinking about speaking a little about thermal drapes, curtains and I may even throw in some pinch pleated drapes info.

If I’m not beating him by next week I’ll throw in the towel and link to his awesome drapes page.
